AT A GLANCE
XLGAMES calls ArcheAge Chronicles an open-world action MMORPG. Its world uses zone channels, with typical channels designed for about 100 players; dungeons and some points of interest can be instanced for a solo player or party.

Genre and shared-world structure
The official website describes an open-world action MMORPG, and Steam lists MMO and online multiplayer features. XLGAMES says combat, world exploration, life skills and multiplayer are core pillars. The world is not one undivided crowd: zones are separated into channels, with about 100 players described as a typical channel size, not a hard server cap.

Channels, parties and instances
A party can stay together while moving between zones, and the developer says quest sharing applies to party members. Dungeons and some points of interest can be instanced for an individual or party; the progression article says a dungeon can be attempted solo or with a party of up to four. That limit describes the stated dungeon activity, not every group feature in the game.

What requires other players?
XLGAMES’ stated design goal is for the adventure to feel worthwhile solo and in a group. Story quests, exploration and progression are not described as universally group-gated. Raids and some social activities are inherently group-oriented; exact requirements depend on the activity and should not be inferred from the MMO label alone.
